28 IPM is a way of coverting poisonous farming to safe farming
29.Lets allow  nature to behave like nature..
30.IPM does not belongs to any party but it belongs to nature,Ecosystem, environment  and society, .Let's promote nature and society friendly  approaches Of oest management to implement IPM.
31.Though we are doing plant protection with the help of the chemical pesticides which not IPM as  IPM is the plant protection with due care of Environment, health, biodiversity, ecosystem nature and society.
32.IPM is not against the use of the chemical pesticides  but it is definitely against the misuse of the chemical pestici6.
34 The pesticides  are more harmful than the pests.zthere is no good or bad pesticides  all the chemical pesticides  are harmful to our health ecosystem and Environment . 35.Removal of the dominancy of the chemical pesticides  in Agriculture is the main objective  of IPM.
35.Lets  create a mindsets among the people  including farmers that the chemical pesticides  are harmful to  our  health and  Environment.

IPM Bachan ....contd

26.IPM is a multidisciplinary approach which requires coordinated efforts of Scientists, extention workers ,and farmers . Close liaison and coordination betbeen states  and centre besides international cooperation is also requires
to minimize the  huge crop losses due to weeds ,diseases ,pests etc.
27.
Self understanding and self awareness about IPM,Change of mindsets, making infrastructure and to practice Philosophies  in practical use are the main mantra of success of IPM.

My contribution to the society and nature.

Considering the themes of Integrated Pest  Managent (IPM),described in previous  posts the following types of activities were undertaken by me for the benefit of the the nature and society:_
A.Creation of awareness among all stakeholders of  IPM :_
1. The farmers were awared  by me about the ill effects of the chemical pesticides on community health, environment, ecosystem, nature and its resources and trade related with Agriculture.
2.People of the society were awared that all the chemical pesticides are harmful to our health, environment, and to several natural resources including the beneficial  organisms  found in the agroecosystem contributing a lot to manage the pest population in the crop fields.
3.They were also awared that the chemical pesticides  must only be used as an emergency  solutions not as a priority solution.
4.The farmers were also awared that abiotc factors are also responsible for crop losses along with biotic factors .
5. The farmers were also awared the
Crop health management including pest management can also be done with non chemical methods.
B.Empowerness or skill Development  of the people including farmers :_IPM is a skill and  competency Development programme of  the  farmers to enable them to grow healthy and safe food ,fodder and feed with minimum expenditure, with minimum use of the chemical pesticides and with least disturbance to environment, ecosystem ,biodiversity, nature and its resources etc. They were also  made competent to  grow  safe food, fodder and feed to eat and quality agricultural commodities to trade by me .
C.Farmers motivation :-The farmers were also motivated by me to adopt  IPM  for the benefit of the society and nature i .e. for upgrading  the livelihood of the farmers ,keeping environment clean and green for our comfortable living and also to save ecosystem including agroecosyste
m.
D  The  IPM concept was popularised by me among the farmers  up to grass root level to grow healthy crop.
E.Promoted biopesticides and other IPM inputs among the farmers as an alternative and supplementary tool to implement IPM .
F. The farmers were advised to do farming with hormony to the nature and society.
G. A grow safe food  Campaign  was also launched  on all  India level to empower the farmers to use chemical pesticides on judicious manner  to reduce the use of the chemical pesticides in Agriculture.
H.Due to colonization and establishment of Epiricania melanoleuca an active parasitiod of sugarcane Pyrilla in Gujarat,MP,Maharastra,Rajasthan,AP ,against sugarcane Pyrilla the aerial spraying in sugarcane crop against sugarcane Pyrilla  was  stopped on my advise which resulted not saving of public money in crores of rupees and also saved the environments  from air ,water and soil pollution.Besides above the post of Aviation Advisor of Govt of Gujarat has also  been abolished for ever on my advise.
I.Bardoli sugarfactory and Cotton Marketing Federation of Govt Of Gujarat have established ther biocontro labs for the production of biocontrol  agents  for their use in their respective areas
J.Pest surveillance and monitoring  programmes were also found useful to chalk out advance  strategy to combat different pest problems like Apple Scab in J& K,Yellow rust in north west India ,Cotton white fly in Haryana and Punjab etc.
K. Sikkim has emerged as a first Organic State in  India .
L .An exotic pathogen Embellisia Ali was intercepted from 14 nos of Garlic consignments imported from Pakistan though Atari Bagha  border .All these consignments comprising 530.864 MT.was destroyed and incinerated  which prevented the possibility of the introduction of this exotic pathogen in India saved Agriculture of our country.
M.The Outbreak of  Migratory locust in Ladakh region of J& K state during 2006 was successfully controlled by the control operation conducted in my commond  and control in  Cold desert area of J&Kstate.

I am ........As an IPM Extension Worker.

Although Agriculture is  a state Subject however plant protection is placed on the concurrent list of the constitution of India under which central Govt. is directly responsible for Locust control in the Indian Scheduled Desert Area, implementation of Central Insectcides Act 1968,DIP Act 19 14,besides the popularisation of new innovative Technologies  among the states  Govt and Farmers through Training and Demonstrations.Integrated Pest Management (IPM)is such new technique being popularised by the Dte Of Plant Protection ,quarantine and Storage through its 35 Central IPM Centers located in different states of India .As an IPM Extension  worker I was Enggaged in conducting or organizing  following  types of activities:....

1.Bio-Control  of crop pests and weeds.- conducting Biocontrol     Trials against crop pests and weeds with lab reared biocontrol   agents of crop pests and weeds, their field releases,by way of their   augmentation and conservation and assessment of their   effectiveness through recovery tests  and observing their   colonization,  and establishment, into fields .Conducting trials of   Ecological Engineering  for the conservation of biological control agents.

2.Pest monitoring and Surveillance......Through Rapid Roving and fixed plot surveys,e pest Surveillance, pest monitoring through Pheromone and other types of  traps ,Issuence of pest Advisories  to the states, listing of endemic pest and pest prone areas.Conducting Agroecosystem Analysis (AESA) for decision  making and adopting suitable intervention.

3.Human Resources  Development  programmes through IPM trainings and Demonstrations like Season Long Training Programmes,IPM Farmers Field Schools, and other short duration training programmes.

4.Mitigation of the pest emergencies..

5. Organizing Grow Safe Food Campaign Through placement of hoardings at prominent places.

6.Awareness creation about I'll effects of chemical pesticides, motivating the farmers for adoption of IPM Technology in their fields. Empowering the farmers to grow safe and healthy crops keeping safe environments.

7. Preparation of IPM  S OPs ,Modules, and Package of practices.

Myself ------ As an Ecologist to implement IPM.

As an Ecologist  I have conducted following types of trials for implementation of IPM__
1.Agroecosystem Analysis (AESA) _A process of decision making for adoption of intervention required by the crop field.
2.Conducting trials of ecological Engineering for the conservation of bio control agents in the crop fields.
3 .Conservation of bio control agents through pest habitats manipulation, and adoption or removal of various types of  agronomical or cultural practices.
4.Demarking the endemic pests and areas.
5.Colonisation and establishment of exotic and indigenous bio control agent in new areas  and assessment of their effectiveness and performance in future in their new home.
6.Restoration of the damaged ecosystem damaged due to indiscriminate  use of the chemical  pesticides.
7.To note occurrence and distribution of new pests in  new areas.

I am as an IPM trainer or as an IPM Teacher.

As we know that IPM is not a symbolic activity but it is a practical activity  which can be learn only in the field through self involvement or self participation based on the principles of  learning by doing believing by seeing through practical field activities called Participatory Action Research (PAR activities)to be undertaken as field demonstration  in the field itself  which itself is behaving as IPM farmers field School i.e .a school without wall and ceiling, through nonfarmal education system .It differs from farmal education system in various ways given below....
1.There is no teacher but in place of teacher there is a facilitator who facilitate the process of  learning  by way of creating facilities and environment to learn in the field itself.
2.The audience are well experienced having vast knowledge of  doing farming.
3 .The way of teaching is  of exchanging the views which is a two way  process. The knowledge is not imposed on the gainers but they are motivated to learn.

4.There is no preditermined syllabus or curriculum which is prepared daily basis based on the requirements of the Agroecosystem, weather and climate.
5.It isn't only  a powerful tool to transfer IPM technology but but also as a means of community Development, poverty elevation, adult and health education besides creating awareness for protection of  environment, health, biodiversity, ecosystem etc.,making farmers experts to apply  the technology in their own fields for their further multiplication  effects .
6.The learning process include field observations, collection of the field material ,their segregation, plotting of drawing, group discussion through presentation in groups and decision making.
Learnig through entertainments through group dynamic activities is also done.
7 Multiplying factor is important for sustainability of IPM programme through farmers to farmers education.
8.Reapting the the technology for consequences years makes the farmers and extention workers experts or masters to demonstrate, adopt and teach the technology to their fellow friends.
8.Through practical training the farmers or the extention workers would be capable enough  to identify, analyze a problem and take decisions on their own and could be  able to make solid core team to impart further training to others
9 .I am one of the among all the masters trainers and imparted several short and long duration training programmes like Season Long training IPM training programmes and organising the  IPM Farmers Field Schools  in different states of India.

I Express my deep sense of gratitude to all of my three Great  masters (Gurus) whose blessings helped me to rise up  to the  post of the Additional Plant protection  Adviser (IPM) from  initial post of the Technical Asstt (BioControl)in the Directorate of Plant  protection Quarantine and Storage,Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers welfare of Govt of India.
I did my Bsc and M Sc from Janta college Bakewar Distt Etawah (UP) affiliated with the then Kanpur University Kanpur .Here I would like to write  few lines about my most beloved and respected academic  Guru Dr .Om  Prakash Raghuwanshi,Reader and Head of Department of Zoology in Janta college Bakewar. He was a strict administrator ,oarater ,lecturer,Scientist, academician, and knowledgeable person having a very good managerial quality.I had been a student of the Zoology  Department both in undergraduate and Post graduate  level in this college .Dr Raghuwanshi  loved me very much . He himself was very punctual and self disciplined person and also liked  similar type of students .Once he tought only two students in a class for whole period  only becoming few minutes late    of other students  coming in the class. He was very hard working professor as once he helped me in making a stuff of a  bird Owl even in very  peak summer day. After getting me  job  , on my request he issued me a certificate about my behaviour  ,performance of collection and preservation of zoological specimens ,their preservation and mountings and also about taking part in excursions tour and academic trips especially during tour to   OKHA port  about my worthy performance in collecting the marine animals ,preserving them and identifying them. His certificate helped me in facing various interviews during my service periods,.Though he is no more but his blessings  are still with me .I will be highly obliged  for him always.
Dr. Mahima Chand Diwakar is my professional guru who tought me the a b c d of plant protection and I  P M. We usually call him as an IPM Sant as he is an encyclopedia  of IPM    Though he is  a renound Plant Pathologist but having a vast knowledge and experience of almost all the branches and disciplines and activities related with plant protection including locust control and plant Quarantine. He wrote several books ,research papers, Editorials  on different aspect of plant protection and IPM . He is also one among all others the founder members of the National IPM  Programme in India. He is  like a central rod of the plant protection umbrella  and headed Pest  surveillance and IPM schemes in the Dte of plant protection  Quarantine and storage. He a nonstop speaker on  plant protection. As a professional guru he charged me with several IPM Mantra, thoughts and ideologies which finally forced me to become IPM Philosopher.
I will be highly obliged  for his encouragement  in my life .

IPM should be a political agenda for making the Govt

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is committed to provide safe food to eat, safe water to drink ,safe air to breathe ,safe environment to live comfortably, quality agricultural commodities to trade  to the society  besides  this it  is also committed to conserve nature and its resources like soil, water, air, beneficial flora and fauna, biodiversity etc and is also helpful to maintain ecosystem and natural balance in the nature.IPM is also helpful to maintain  community health, and all other essential things which help to sustain life on earth. It is also helpful to enhance the farmers income and to upgrade their  livelihood. It also helps to do various socioeconomic activities and it is the main occupation of the Indian farmers .presently Agriculture has become non profitable occupation and  due to which the youngsters farmers or persons don't want to do Agriculture.Agriculture has now become a risk prone occupation and having natural and man made greater  potential of various types of threats. IPM is also helpful to combate various types of  threats. It is also helpful to  maintain the smooth Agricultural  trade both national and international level. It also help us to provide all essential elements required to  ensure life on earth.
Agriculture has now become multi objective occupation and IPM help us to achieve all the objectives. It also help the society to prevent the  environmental pollution including soil, air and water pollutions .It also helps to combate various types of the emergencies  related with natural and climatic issues .
In order to minimise the problems described above and also to prevent the crop failure due to over use of the chemical pesticides and to prevent the farmers suicides and other problems related with  the govt policies  etc IPM must be included in the political agenda for making Govt both Central and state level to prevent the overuse and mis use of the chemical  pesticides in  Agriculture and also to keep environment safe, clean and green.

IPM

IPM is not a symbolic activity or programme but it is a practical activity or practical programme to grow safe crop with safe environment and safe health  of its creatures .Until  or unless we will not practice it we will not get the expected results.Self  involvement ,self motivation ,self awareness is the key mantra of motivating and  awarering others.

Let's Change the IPM mandate

IPM Technology has already been described and demonstrated in most of the crops in different states among the farmers through IPM Farmers Field School Programme. It has also been described in different IPM package of practices issued by different agencies ..Now there is a need to ensure the availability of IPM inputs to the farmers at their doorsteps. It  Should be the next main mandate of the IPM schemes working in research and extension sides  both at central and state level for which Govt must establish the industries of the producing the IPM inputs parallel with production of the chemical  pesticides industries .lt should be the second mandate of the IPM  programmes .The restoration of the damaged ecosystem and conservation of the natural resources must also be given priority though Ecological Engineering and programmes for the  conservation of beneficial fauna and flora in the ecosystem.
IPM package of practices must also include the control measures  related with  political, rgulatory ,Emergency,Social, climatic, economical ,ecological ,Environmental and natural problems and emergencies.
All corners approach must be applied to reduce the use of the chemical pesticides in Agriculture with an aim to produce safe food ,fodder ,feed,to eat and also to produce quality agricultural products or commodities to trade and also to keep Environment green and clean.IPM must also be included as an political agenda by all the  political parties in order to provide safe food ,safe water ,safe air  to society and also to sustain life on earth and also to upgrade the livelihood of the farmers .
