Creating awareness among farmers to adopt IPM

The following awareness may be created among farmers to implement IPM:

1.     The pesticides are not only panacea for the management of the pests.

2.     Pesticides are harmful to our health and environment.

3.     All organisms of the agro eco system are not pests.

4.     Pesticides don’t help to enhance the crop yield.

5.     Pests are not only the factors responsible to reduce the crop yield. There are many a bio-tic factors responsible to reduce to crop yield.

6.     The pest population below ETL is also needed to maintain the ecological balance in the agro eco system and for survival of beneficial organisms system.

7.     Calendar based application of pesticides is not advisable as it is not useful to enhance the crop yield.

8.     They must grow safe food to eat.

9.     Indiscriminate use of pesticides may lead the crop failure also.

10.            Pesticides are more harmful than pests.

11.            Food security and food safety must be ensured simultaneously.

12.            Need assessment is needed before resorting application of pesticides.

13.            Pesticides are poison need to be handled with care by the farmers.

14.            Pesticides must be used judiciously.

15.            Farmer’s safety must be ensured.
