New dimensions in Integrated Pest Management (IPM)

   1.      Pest Surveillance:
Manual surveillance needs to be replaced with e-pest surveillance to reduce lead time of pest/disease detection and adoption of intervention for their management.

   2.       Analysis of Pesticides residue from agricultural produced
A national project on pesticide residue analysis named as “Monitoring of Pesticides Residue at National Level (MPRNL) is working on this aspect. Comparative studies of pesticide residue on IPM & Non-IPM produces are required to be conducted.

   3.       Increasing trend of consumption of Bio-pesticides
The consumption of chemical pesticides needs to be replaced with Bio-pesticides. The consumption of Bio-pesticide is now in increasing trend from 123 MT in 1994-95 to 6,500 MT in 2011-12.

   4.       Disposal of used Pesticides containers
Triple rinsing of containers after use is needed. A national project for the disposal of used Pesticides containers is needed.

   5.       Development of entrepreneurship in IPM is needed to ensure available of IPM inputs at door step level of the farmers.

   6.       Identifying the Pesticides residue free areas for export of agricultural commodities.

   7.       Emphasis should be given to use pesticides as per the level claims of CIB&RC.

   8.       Selection of FFS villages should be made based on the availability of pesticide residue in a particular area. High pesticides residue areas to be selected for conducting FFS.

   9.       Grow Safe Food campaign be launched and promoted.

   10.   Analysis of pesticides residue of IPM and non IPM fields should be conducted to see the impact of IPM Programme in a village.

   11.   Knowledge management programme in IPM at National level be implemented in the form of National Knowledge Network.
