Successful Examples of certain exotic biocontrol agents introduced in India.

1.Aphelinus mali native of North America was introduced from United kingdom as an exotic parasite of Woolly Aphids Eriosoma lanigerum on Apple which was  imported from England established in J$K state in       and giving desired control of this pest.

2.zygogramma bicolorata beetles imported from Mexico     and  introduced in different parts of India giving control of Parthenium in different parts of India.

3.Neochetina eichornae and N bruchi native of Argentina and neibouring areas of South Africa              introduced in different states of India for the control of water hyacinth

4.Paratheresia claripalps origin of Mexico  imported from Peru USA introduced in India .

5.Bracon Kirkpatrick origin of Africa imported from                   introduced in Haryana state to control pink boll worm  .

6. Cottony Cushion Scale insect Icera purchsi was controlled  by Rodolia Cardinalis a Coccinellid beetle f Australian origin is a classical example of biocontrol in India.

7.Cryptolaemus montrouzieri a kind of cuccinellid beetles introduced in India in 1898 by Newport from Austrelia mainly for the control of C viridis had established on many species of mealy bugs and scales.It has been successfully used to control guava mealy bug Coffee mealy bugs etc.

8.Chelonus blackburni was introduced from Hawaii for the control of Cotton bollworms.
