Few success stories of classical biocontrol of indigenous biocontrol agents.

1.Sugarcane Pyrilla epidemics during 1973-74,1976,1978,19 84,1985,and 1999 were controlled by conserving and augmenting its  nymphal and adult parasitoids Epiricania melanoleuca, and egg parasite Tetrastichus pyrillae in different sugarcane growing states of India.

2.Sugarcane borers in the states of Bihar,UP ,West Bengal ,Orrissa ,Rajasthan,Gujarat,Maharstra,Punjaband Haryana are kept under check by the field releases of Trichogramma chilonis and T. Japonicum,

3.Sugarcane Scale insect Melnospis glomerata was kept under check in the states of Utter Pradesh , West Bengal  ,Gujarat ,karnataka by releasing coccinellid beetles Chilocorus nigrites,Pharoschymnus horni ,and Sticholotis Madagassa.

3.Rice stem borers,and leaf folders have been kept under check in different rice growing states of India by releasing Trichogramma japonicum and T. Chilonis 

4.Exotic Egg parasitoids Trichogramma brasiliensis ,larval parasitoid Bracon kirkpatricki and Chelonus blackburni have been colonized for the control of Cotton bollworms in state of Haryana,Punjab Gujarat Andhra pradesh and Rajasthan.

5.Use of Nuclear Polyhedrosis Virus (NPV)against Heliothis armigera on Gram and Cotton crops gave effective control of this pest.NPV  has also  been found effective against Spodoptera litura.

6.Sanjose Scale and Woolly Aphids pests Of Apple were controlled by field releases of parasites Encarsia pernisiosi,Aphelinus mali  and predatory beetles in the states of J$K ,Himachal Pradesh.Weeklly 

Field releases of exotic parasites Trichgramma cachexia pallidium and T  embryophagum during May and June proved unsuccessful  control against Codling Moth in Ladakh region of J $ K  state.

7.Anar butter fly was kept under control in Himachal pradesh by releasing T chilonis.

8.Coconut blackhead catterpillar in Orrisa and karnataka states are being controlled by releasing Bracon brevicornis  Goniozus niphantidis and Elasms niphantidis.

9 .Use of T chilonis,T.brasiliensis and T .pretiosum against Tomato fruite borer H .armigera gave satisfactory control of this pest in H P and karnataka states.

10.Biological control of Waterhyacinth weed has been undertaken in  Hyderabd ,Bangalore ,Gorakh pur ,Faridabad,Berdwan Shriganga nagar,Bhuveneshwar ,Raipur Surat with promising results through release of Neochetina bruchi and N eichhorniae .
