Dr Hem Singh Pruthi was the first Indian Entomologist who served as Imperial Entomologist being the first native Indian in that position.He was born at Begowala Sialkot where his father Dr Bhagat Singh Pruthi worked in police and jail hospital Gujaranwala Now in Pakistan.Dr H S Pruthi born on 23rd February 1897 Begowala now in Pakistan.and died on 23rd December 1969. He did his education from Peter house Cambrdge University of kiCambridge.He served as Imperial Entomologist at Indian Agricultureal Institute Pusa (Bihar)in 1934 and from 1936 to 1943 New Delhi .He also served as Director IARI IN 1944-45 and Director Locust control and Plant Protection Adviser to the Govt of India in the Cenral plant protection and Quarantine Organization and then Dte of Plant Protection ,Quarantine and Storage fom 1946 to 1953 .
2.Dr.Krishan Bihari Lal :--
Dr Krishan Bihari Lal was born in 1904 in Azamgarh Distt of Uttar Pradesh in India .His specialization was in Agricultural zoology, Plant Protection.He obtained his Ph.d .in 1933 from Universiry of Edinburgh,UK in Agricultural zoology and plant protection .He also served as Plant protection specialist for near East FAO Cario.from 1962 to 1969.He passed away on 04 .o5 .1996.
Dr Lal, research was related to the Taxonomy description of parasitic Vasp ,Braconideae,He also worked on biological control of pests of Cotton,Sugarcane ,fruit trees etc.He obtained his Ph d in 1933 from Edinburgh specializing Agricultural zoology and Plant Protection.He also served as the Plant Protection Adviser to the Govt of India New Delhi from 1953 to 1962.and also served as a plant protection Specialist for North East,FAOCario from 1962to 1969.He also established an organozation for Plant Protection in Uttar Pradesh in 1947.
3. Dr Sardara Singh :_
Dr. Sardara Sigh was renowned Entomoligist . He served in various Organisations for 30 years .He also served as Third Plant Protection Adviser to the Govt of India as well as Director of Locust control from ...1962 to 1970
His work was mainly related with Hiney bees and beekeeping ,different aspects of plant protection in India and aerial spraying on the crops and locust.He has made a review paper on plant protection,
which describes the then progress of different methods of pest control and outlines their the then present status along with their achievements and their failures.
He obtained MSC From Punjab Agricultural University Ludhiyana .PA U is giving a medal on his name called Sardar Singh Medal to those students who secured the highest OCPA( not less than 8.00).He settled at A/31 Nirala nagar Lucknow India.
4.Dr S.N. Banerjee:----
Dr.S N Banerjee was the fourth plant protection Adviser to the GOI.and Director of Locust Control from1971 to 1980 .He was born on in Chinchura village of Distt. .........in West Bengal.He served as PPA to the Govt Of India and Director Locust Control from 1971 to1980 .Basically he was academician a and Entomologist. He also served as state Entomologist in West Bengal state.
Crop pest Surveillance and Biological control of crop pests and weeds Schemes were initiated and came in existence in his tenure and were also popularised on ground level in his tenure.of PPA.
The outbreak of sugarcane Pyrilla during 1973 and 1974 in bihar and eastern Utter pradesh were combated during his tenure of PPA ship.through the Clonisation and establishment of an ecto parasitoid Epipyrops melanoleuca now called as Epiricania melanoleuca.in sugarcane growing areas of these states. By avoiding aerial spraying on sugarcane crops in these states saving of a net exchaqure of rupees four crores..was made.
Locust invasion during 1978 in Scheduled Desert Area of Rajasthan and Gujarat states was averted successfully in his tenure in which he also suffered and undergone heart problem .
Dr Benrjee has also developed a new type of light trap called Chinchura light trap which was given on the name of his village. He passed away ..........
5.Dr.K D Paharia :------
Dr. K D Paharia was the first Secretary of CIB and RC .He was very much associated with formation of the drafts of Central Insecticides Act 1968 and their rules made under that .The Insectcides Act 1968 was passed from Parliament during his tenure.He was the first PPA who was from plant pathology discipline.He worked as PPA from 1980 to 1984.
His research work was on the Late and early blight of potato.Prior joining to this Dte he has also worked in CPRI Shimla. He has created two disciplines in the Dte ie.plant pathology and Entomologu by merging the senioritis of all the officers if the Dte. Four New Central Biological Control Stations were also opened in his tenure.
6.Dr RL Rajak:- He remained PPA of dynamic personality having very good managerial quality.He is very good orator. He worked as PPA twice ie firstly from 1.11 1984 to 17.07.1993.and secondly from 15.07 1996 to 12.19 2000.
Dr.R L Rajak born on 04.08.1941.did his DIC.and Ph.d.from from Imperial college of Science and Technology University of London (U K). He joined the
Dte .Of Plant Protection,quarantine and Storage as Deputy Director Plant Diseases during February 1974 and remain occupied this post up to December 1982. Then he became Director Central Insectcides laboratory and holds this position from December 1982 to March 1986 with additional charge of PPA from November 1984 to March 1986.He became regular PPA from March 1986 to July 1993.Then he became Executive Director on deputation on in NOVOD BOARD GURGAON DURING JULY 1993 TO JULY 1996. On return from NOVOD BOARD GURGAON again he occupied the post of PPA and remained PPA from July 1996 to December 2000. Then became OSD New Delhi.Ministry of Agriculture Govt of India.and kept this post between Novemer 2000 to August 2001 when he retired.
His research work was related with Insect Toxicology,Storage Entomology.,Pesticides residue,Vector control,Newer techniques for Exterminationof exotic pests,diseases and weeds.
Preparation of IPM modules for various Agroecosystem in the country.,restructuring of plant protection system in India by merging CBCS,CSS.and CPPSs in to CIPMCs..were few Achivements credited to him.
.7.Dr V Ragunathan:-----.Dr V Ragunathan also held the post of PPA and Director locust control twice i .e .firstly from 15.7.1993 to 14 .7 .1996.and then from 13.10.2000 to 31.5. 2002 Prior to hold the post of PPA.he had also served as Director CIL and prior to that he was occupying the post of Director NPPTI.Hyderabad under this Dte. He is a renowned plant pathologist and having vast experience of teaching on plant Protection in CPPTI Hyderabad.
The worsed locust invasion during 1993 was controlled and averted successfully in different states of the country including Rajasthan Gujarat,Haryana Punjab etc.during his tenure.
IPM was popularised in the states,though the implementation of Human Resource Development programmes in the country in form of crash training programmes for making masters trainers ,IPM farmers Field Schools,and Season long or long and short duration training programmes to the state functionaries and farmers .State level conference on IPM to chalk out planning of further implementation in future ,IPM check points were also made to monitor the Progress of IPM Programmes in India.
8.Dr P S Chandurkar :-------
Dr.PS Chandurkar joined / worked on the post of PPA from 03.06 .2002.to 31.05.2010 .Prior to joining the post of PPA he also worked on the post of Director NPPTI Hyderabad and Entomologist (Insecticides )in CIB AND RC IN the Dte of PPQand S Hqtrs Faridabad.
Restructuring of Locust Warning Organization,Implementation of transfer policy in the Dte.,Drafting of Pesticides Management Bill,Commissoning of LOC trade from Pakistan started at Chakan Da Bagh and Salamabad in J$k State.,combating locust incursion during 2005 in Scheduled Desert Area and in Cold Desert of Ladakh region of J$k state are few achievements credited to him during his tenure.

Dr VK Yadava joined the Dte of PPQ$S as Deputy Locust Emtomologist in Locust Warnig OrganizationJodhpur during 1979.
He averted the locust Invasion or locust incursions during1983, 1986,1988, in Scheduled Desert Area of Rajasthan and ,Gujarat states.
He also served as Deputy Director (Entomology) at Regional Plant QuarantineStation at Kolkata and Amritsar and Additional plant Prtection Adviser (IPM) from........... to ....... .HE
also joined the post of PPA in the Dte of PPQ$S.Faridabad on 06.06.2011 and worked as PPA up to31.07.2012..
